Today in Cairo President Obama stressed the United States and the Islamic world must work in partnership to build a new relationship. The theme of this speech indicated that it is time to make a new world where the people of the world can live together in peace. The President said today “any world order that elevates one nation or group of people over another will inevitably fail.” The overall tone of the Presidents speech focused on the future of not only the United States and the Islamic world but the future of the world itself and the importance of all nation’s working together toward a common goal of peace and progress. However President Obama did state “the first issue we have to confront is violent extremism in all of its forms” but also the President said “I consider it part of my duty of as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.” With this historic speech the President has offered an olive branch to in some respects heal the damage done through out the Bush Administration’s tense relations with the Islamic world. The President believes “these needs will be met only if we act boldly in the years ahead and if we understand the challenges we face are shared and our failure to meet them will hurt was all.”
